The Public Lands Survey System Foundation (PLSSF) has been created in a joint effort of the USDI Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM). Incorporated as a non-profit and non-stock entity under the laws of the State of Maryland, the PLSSF exists to conduct a wide variety of efforts for the benefit of the Public Lands Survey System, which was created by the federal government in 1785 to control the location of title rights throughout the public domain.
Efforts include educational programs, printing and distribution of several documents and books, scholarships, project funding, and grants; all of which must benefit the preservation and knowledge about the Public Lands Survey System.
Below are links to the original 2008 Memorandum between the two entities as well as the Charter of the Foundation itself.
